Setup Instructions for FIDO2-Certified Websites

Register your PUFido security key with an online service  

PUFido security keys are now available on various operating systems and platforms that offer U2F and FIDO2 certification services. Therefore, PUFido security keys can be used wherever U2F or FIDO2 is supported.

To use your FIDO2 or U2F security key for authentication, you need to register it with each online service (e.g., Google, Microsoft, GitHub, etc.).

Below are the general steps that apply to most platforms.

Log into Your Account

1. Open the website of the online service you want to register your key with (e.g., Google, Microsoft, GitHub, AWS).

2. Enter your username & password to log in.

Go to Security Settings

1. Find the Security or Account Settings section.

2. Look for 2-Step Verification, Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), or Security Keys.

Add a New Security Key

1. Click "Add Security Key", "Register a Security Key", or "Set Up FIDO2/U2F Key".

2. If prompted, re-enter your account password.

Insert Your Security Key

For PUFido security keys → Insert the key into your computer’s USB-C port.

Setup PIN (for FIDO2 Registration)

1. If you are registering a FIDO2 security key, you may need to set up a PIN. Please refer to section 3 for details on setting it up for Windows. For macOS, see section 4 for instructions on setting up the PUFido Security Key.

2. Choose a secure PIN (It is recommended to use 4~63 alphanumeric characters, upper and lower letters, numbers, and special characters) and confirm it.

Confirm by Pressing the Security Key

1. The service will ask you to press the key’s button to complete the authentication.

2. This confirms the registration and ownership of the device.

Save & Complete Registration

1. You may be asked to give your security key a name (e.g., "My key" or "Task Key").

2. Click Finish or Save.

3. Your FIDO security key is now registered!

How to Use Your Registered PUFido Security Key for Login

For U2F (Two-Factor Authentication - 2FA):

1️. Enter username & password → 2️. Insert security key → Login successful.

For FIDO2 (Passwordless Login):

1️. Insert your security key → 2️. Enter PIN → Login successful.
