Security Questions
01 | Which is safer? Hardware or software wallets? |
Software wallets are wallets that you can access via websites or applications that you install on your computer or smartphone. Hardware wallets are pieces of hardware devices that store your private keys.
A software wallet may be convenient to access and trade, but it also comes with a high risk of being hacked. Hardware wallets store your private keys offline and eliminate the risk of hackers stealing your private keys.
SecuX wallets are hardware wallets equipped with an Infineon SLE solid Flash CC EAL5+ Secure Element chip, which is used to securely store your unique PIN and Private Key. It enables zero transaction leakage and your transactions are verified without the private key ever leaving the device. The Infineon Secure Element Chip also comes with a security feature: self-destructive mechanism when exposed to light, in case someone wants to break into your wallet and steal the data inside.
02 | What is a security chip and why does it matter? |
A security chip is a dedicated chip for the storage of your private keys and PINs. It also provides protection from possible attacks from hackers during connection or transactions. SecuX wallets are equipped with an Infineon SLE solid Flash CC EAL5+ Secure Element chip, which is used to securely store your unique PIN and Private Key. It enables zero transaction leakage and your transactions are verified without the private key ever leaving the device. The Infineon Secure Element Chip also comes with a security feature: self-destructive mechanism when exposed to light, in case someone wants to break into your wallet and steal the data inside.
03 | What does the security certification of SE (Secure Element) stand for? |
SecuX wallets are equipped with an Infineon SLE solid Flash CC EAL5+ Secure Element chip, which is used to securely store your unique PIN and Private Key. The CC is a common criteria for information technology security evaluation while the EAL stands for the evaluation assurance level and is a category ranking assigned to an IT product. EAL5+ means the semi-formally designed and tested one or more additions to this level testing and is stronger, in terms of security, than EAL4+. Infineon is the leading provider of security solutions and has been providing outstanding security expertise and innovations for 30 years.
04 | I am using SecuXess web application to manage my cryptos. If my crypto assets are stored in the SecuX Website and my crypto assets will be gone if SecuX website no longer provides service? |
Blockchain essentially allows all of your crypto assets and transactions to be stored on the blockchain network, and not on any of the third-party services, including SecuX. SecuXess is only a platform that allows you to connect with blockchain networks, in accordance with their respective protocol rules, and to perform transactions without ever storing your private information. SecuXess also allows users to send and receive crypto assets to and from users of a dedicated blockchain network, connect with third party services, and to access services such as the delegation of staking rights on supported proof-of-stake blockchains or buying crypto. Therefore, if SecuX was to unfortunately shut down, you will still be able to access your transaction history and assets via a third-party website or wallet using your 24 Recovery Words.
05 | Is it safe to make transactions via Bluetooth connection? |
It is completely safe to make transactions via Bluetooth connection due to the security chip that we have in all of our hardware wallets. During connection, your private key for transaction signatures remains protected inside the security chip which is never accessed during this process and will not be susceptible to any attacks from outside the wallet. All SecuX wallets will also require a One Time Password (OTP) when connecting via Bluetooth to ensure security. Bluetooth 5 also has AES encryption that further encrypts sensitive data while transmitting. The large display that SecuX wallet offers also comes into play where you are able to verify all the details easily during a transaction.
06 | Will my transaction vanish on the blockchain? |
The status of the transaction depends on the higher or lower network fees paid and network traffic. In the event of a failed transaction, the cryptocurrencies you sent will not go, but you might still be charged network fee based on which network you use. Once the transaction is confirmed and sent from SecuX wallet and processed to blockchain, it cannot be canceled, altered nor refunded.
Please make sure that the currency you wish to receive or send is set to the correct network (ie BEP20, ERC20, TRC20, etc.) Sending coins/tokens to an address on different networks may result in unrecoverable loss of funds.
07 | If my wallet is damaged, lost or stolen, will I lose all my cryptos? |
No, you will not lose your cryptos. All your crypto assets are stored on the blockchain network. In the event of theft, loss, or damage to your SecuX wallet, you can recover your wallet and restore access to your crypto assets with your 24 Recovery Words on any compatible BIP 32, BIP 39, and BIP44 standard software or hardware wallets.
In the event of theft or loss, we recommend using a new wallet with new recovery words for security purposes.
SecuX does not store, nor do we have access to your Crypto Assets nor your Private Keys. If you lose your 24 recovery words, SecuX has no way of helping you retrieve your recovery words for you. Therefore, it is essential for you to keep your 24 recovery words safe.
08 | What will happen to my assets if SecuX servers go down or the company is forced to close? |
09 | Does SecuX save any personal information on SecuXess Web wallet and SecuX Mobile APP? |
SecuX operates non-custodial services, meaning we do not store, nor do we have access to your Crypto Assets, Private Keys, passwords, passphrases, transaction history, or other credentials associated with your use of any SecuX services. Unlike traditional centralized financial services, SecuX Services do not require registration of personal information nor create personal accounts for our users.
10 | What security measure does SecuX adopt in terms of supply chain? |

Blockchain Questions
01 | What is Private Key and Public Key? |
There are two types cryptography: Private and Public key.
In Private key, the same key is used for encryption and decryption. In this cryptography, key is symmetric because the only key is copied or shared by another party to decrypt the ciphered text. It is faster than public key cryptography.
In Public key cryptography, two keys are used; one key is used for encryption and another key is used for decryption. One key (public key) is used to encrypt the plain text to convert it into cipher text and the other key (private key) is used by the receiver to decrypt the cipher text to read the message.
Blockchain cryptocurrencies use the Public Key cryptography and in this case, your recovery words would lead you to your private key and the key would grant you ownership of the funds on a given address. Imagine the public key being the address to your house, but without a key, you won’t be able to get in. The private key, in this case, would be the key to the house.
Private and Public Keys are two types of encryption used in cryptography. When used in the context of blockchain and cryptocurrencies, their roles and functions could be simply explained as below:
Private Key is the most crucial information that is generated by the 24 Recovery Words. It is used to generate Public Key, receiving addresses, and authorize outgoing transactions.
Public Key is generated by Private Key to retrieve associated information from the blockchain network such as balances, transaction history and addresses.
Imagine the public key being the address to your house, but without a key, you won’t be able to get in. The private key, in this case, would be the key to the house.
02 | How do 24 recovery words work? |
Your 24 recovery words are the only backup of your private keys. If you lose your wallet, you will be able to recover it using the 24 recovery words. When you enter your 24 recovery words during recovery, your wallet will calculate your private key for you. Anyone with your 24 recovery words will be able to gain access to your account, so keep your 24 recovery words in a secure place!
03 | What is a Passphrase? |
The Passphrase is an advanced feature that allows you to add an additional word to your recovery words and is also commonly referred to as the 25th word. Any word or phrase of your choosing can be your Passphrase and would create an entirely different set of addresses which cannot be accessed via the 24 recovery words alone. This feature is what we use for the hidden wallet function on your SecuX wallet. The hidden wallet is an advanced feature that enables extra protection to your crypto assets and generates an extra wallet that exists parallel to the one you had already set up.
For more information on our Hidden Wallet, please visit: https://secuxtech.com/blog/hidden-wallet-is-an-advanced-feature/
04 | What is a crypto wallet? |
A crypto wallet is a website, a software application, or a hardware device that manages and protects your private keys and thus, allows access to your crypto assets.
05 | What is a hardware wallet? |
A hardware wallet is a physical device that stores and protects your private key offline, effectively eliminating the risk of possible attack by hackers. When you are operating cryptocurrency transactions, the wallet authorizes and signs off on outgoing transactions.
06 | What is an exchange? |
An exchange is a business or a website that allows end-users to trade cryptocurrencies or digital currencies for fiat currencies or other digital currencies. Some exchanges also allow the ability for staking in tokens. Exchanges such as Binance, Coinbase, and Kraken are centralized exchanges, which requires KYC (know your customer) including multiple types of personal identification verifications before you can trade on their platforms. Most of the control over your account remains in the hands of the third party which runs the exchange, and you do not own any Private Keys to your digital assets.
07 | What are the differences between coins and tokens? |
Coins refers to cryptocurrencies built on their independent blockchain network while tokens are built on existing blockchains. For example, Ethereum is a type of coin and there are more than 200,000 types of tokens that exist on the Ethereum blockchain, including Tether, Shiba Inu, Uniswap , and so on.
08 | Where and how can I inquire about my transaction status? |
You can check your transaction on different blockchain explorers by entering the transaction ID or address. Each blockchain network requires a different explorer and it will show if the transaction was completed or still in process. For example, if you would like to check transactions made on the Ethereum blockchain, you can use etherscan at https://etherscan.io/ or transactions made on Bitcoin on https://blockchair.com/

05 | How does the Hidden wallet feature work? |
A Hidden Wallet is one of SecuX wallet’s unique features. It is the equivalent to a “secret pocket” hidden inside the wallet. If you select “Create Hidden Wallet”, you will have to set another PIN (4~8 digits) and it must be different from your first PIN. The wallet will then request you to set a “Passphrase” (1~99 characters) in order to set up a Hidden Wallet! In other words, if you create a Hidden Wallet in your SecuX Wallet, you have 2 sets of private keys. The first private key manages your first wallet accounts with 24 recovery words, and the 2nd private key manages your Hidden Wallet accounts with 24 recovery words plus the set Passphrase. Every time you power on the wallet, you can enter either the first PIN to access the original wallet or the 2nd PIN to directly access the Hidden Wallet.

05 | I have transferred some crypto coins from exchange to my SecuX wallet many hours ago. Why I cannot find them appear on my wallet? |
Any time you complete a transaction, you need to connect your wallet to SecuXess in order to synchronize information including balances and transaction history to your SecuX wallet.
Cryptocurrency security requires a huge amount of computing time and space, and in this case price reflects urgency. If a lower-fee encryption plan is chosen, it may take a longer time until your transaction is included in the next available block (this is to be determined by the respective network). In some cases, it could take as long as a few days. There could also be the possibilities of an incomplete transaction or incorrect addresses. To check the status of your transaction, you can use a blockchain explorer and enter the TX number. For example, if you would like to check transactions made on the Ethereum blockchain, you can use etherscan at https://etherscan.io/ or transactions made on Bitcoin blockchain on https://blockchair.com/
06 | I have transferred some VeChain tokens and Theta tokens to my SecuX wallet. Why I cannot find them appear on my wallet? |
SecuX wallets only support VeChain (VEN) and Theta ERC-20 tokens but do not support VeChain (VET) mainnet or Theta coin. If you have transferred ERC-20 tokens and the transaction was successfully completed, you need to connect your wallet to SecuXess to sync with the blockchain network, in order for the transaction to be shown on your wallet. However, if you have transferred VET and Theta coins, they will not show up in your wallet. Below is an article from Binance on how to recover VET tokens that were sent to an ETH address.

07 | Will my transaction vanish on the blockchain? |
The status of the transaction depends on the higher or lower network fees paid and network traffic. In the event of a failed transaction, the cryptocurrencies you sent will not be deducted from your account, but you might still be charged network fee based on which network you use. Once the transaction is confirmed, sent from your SecuX wallet and processed to blockchain, it cannot be canceled, altered nor refunded.
Please make sure that the currency you wish to receive or send is set to the correct network (ie BEP20, ERC20, TRC20, etc.) Sending coins/tokens to an address on different networks may result in unrecoverable loss of funds.
08 | How do I add ERC-20 tokens? |

10 | Do SecuX wallets support Native Segwit addresses on Bitcoin? |
Although Native Segwit addresses on Bitcoin are not supported by SecuX wallets at the moment, it is under investigation and consideration to be added in the future.
Transaction / Network Fees
01 | What are transactions / network / gas fees? |
“Gas fees” are the transaction fees that users pay to miners on a blockchain protocol to have their transaction included in the block. The system works on a standard supply and demand mechanism. If there is more demand for transactions, miners can choose to include the transactions that pay more, compelling users to pay more to have their transactions processed quickly and efficiently.
02 | Will SecuX charge me additional service fee for each transaction fee? |
The transaction fee that occurs with moving funds is paid towards miners for mining blocks on the blockchain. SecuX does not charge any additional transaction or processing fee.
03 | Why are my transaction fees getting higher? |
The system works on a standard supply and demand mechanism. If there is more demand for transactions, miners can choose to include the transactions that pay more, compelling users to pay more to have their transactions processed quickly and efficiently. On the other hand, when demand is low, your transaction fees will be lower.
04 | Why are the transaction fees for Ethereum or ERC-20 tokens so high? |
Gas fees can be high because Ethereum is one of most used blockchains — there is so much movement in the Ethereum chain that the blocks are full and transaction fees shoot up with each rise in demand. Gas fees are also dependent on the complexity of the transaction involved. Simple actions like sending Ethereum to a friend will likely incur a relatively small gas charge, while creating a smart contract to be used in a token sale will be far more costly.

03 | How do I connect to SecuXess? |
On how to connect to SecuXess, please check out the following link for a step-by-step guide: https://secuxtech.com/howitworks/how-to-connect_v20-choose-connection/
04 | I cannot connect to the SecuXess web application via USB. |
If you are having issues connecting to the computer via USB, please refer to our How It Works section on how to connect.
If the computer does not detect the device, please make sure you are using the original cable that came with the original package, with the wallet unlocked and its Bluetooth functionality turned OFF.
If the issue persists, please try using a different USB cable, a different USB port, and make sure you are using the Chrome browser and contact support.
All SecuX wallets will also require a One-Time-Password (OTP) when connecting via Bluetooth to ensure security. Bluetooth 5 also has AES encryption that further encrypts sensitive data while transmitting. The large display that SecuX wallet offers also comes into play where you are able to verify all details while performing a transaction.
06 | Are my cryptocurrencies / assets saved on SecuXess or your website? |
Blockchain essentially allows all of your crypto assets and transactions to be stored on the blockchain network, and not on any of the third-party services, including SecuX. SecuXess is only a platform that allows you to connect with blockchain networks, in accordance with their respective protocol rules, and to perform transactions without ever storing your private information.
